the Essential Steps in the Process of Mounting a License Plate
It is prohibited to drive without a license plate as you are said to be a lawbreaker. Therefore, you become targeted by the police when they recognize that you are driving without a license plate. Your car should, therefore, have a license plate attached to it. It is hence useful to know how to install one. In installing your license plate, the first step is to take every tool that you will need when doing this work. The tools are; a flat-headed screwdriver, the right screws and the validation sticker.
The next step will depend on if it is the first time for your car to be installed with a license plate or if it has previously been installed with one. It is useless to drill other holes if your car had a license plate before. If the old sticker still exists, you unmount it and clean the area to attach the new validation tag. A screwdriver may be of use when you are prying off the old sticker. The new sticker should be mounted at the top corners of the car’s license plates. You line up the license plates with the holes in the already drilled car and screw the plate using a screwdriver. You should ensure that the plate is not that tight. You should drill holes when installing the plate for the first time in your car. It is necessary to confirm that your bumper is made of fiberglass. You use a measuring tape to find out the center of the bumper and mark it with a pen. You mark the area where to drill holes after placing the plate over the marked area. After marking the points, you drill the holes and follow the procedure of the predrilled holes.
If you do not want to drill holes in your bumper there is also an option for you. You buy an adhesive-mounted bracket that fits the make and model of your car. Clean up the area that you want to install the plate whereby it is advisable to use rubbing alcohol to make sure that adhesive sticks properly. After cleaning the bumper, you wait for it to dry where you then try to fit the bracket without removing the protective film at first. After fitting, you peel off the protective film at the back of the bracket and place it onto the bumper. Using a screwdriver, you attach the license plate to the bracket using the screws. This method should be used by people whose car’s bumper is made of metal and have never drilled holes again. This is because drilling in a metal front bumper is somehow complicated.
